Lisa - Jane Wallace, The Space Between Now and Then (Student)

The Space Between Now and Then aims to poetically represent the synthesis of our intellect and technology in a new world. Most of us are acutely aware of the new digital world and the change that is being forged, right at the core of our daily lives. Our realities are created within three spaces - our conscious mind, our unconscious mind and physical reality. Now a fourth place exists - cyberspace - wherever that is located. In my version of today’s cyberspace, the matrix where data dances with human consciousness, digital data is represented as white orbs. New and complex infrastructure represented as crystals of varied sizes breed and mutate. Architectural structures decay in response to the evolution of our old ways of thinking. Children symbolise our individual souls, our human consciousness, entering a complex, beautiful future of our own making. Cyberspace is a living entity that we are actively creating, arising from our collective imagination and is our new reality.
