Jenni De Luca Bamber, Transitions (ART 2021)
These photographs, a selection from the project ‘Transitions’, explore representations of identity and self, examining how contemporary photography can be used to represent the ever-changing nature of identity and transformation of self. Through the use of self portraits that depict the intertwined bodies of Mother and Son, I have attempted to show how identity and self fluctuate and change upon becoming or being a Mother. As the bodies are intertwined and bonded together or for fleeting moments drifted apart the transitional states of shifting identities of self comes into play, giving the subjects a deeper meaning that echo's the multitude of selves that a Mother becomes and is being in any one moment.
