Jodie Petersen, Trio in the Golden Hour (SINGLE SHOT 2021)

I love stark landscapes. As beautiful as a towering mountain range with a lush forest at its base is, I try to bring out that same beauty and magic in the ‘plain’. This photo was taken at our neighbour’s paddock of recently reaped barley. The three trees look a little scraggly, and the tree stump is all that is left of tree number four after a bushfire went through five years ago (which is also why the other trees are scraggly). The clouds are not very interesting. But - put all of these elements together, add in the magic ingredient of dusk light, when this photo was taken, and the stark, lonely, scraggly trees in a basically empty paddock shines. I guess I try to turn the ugly duckling into a swan...hopefully successfully!
