Jordan Robins, Two Worlds Collide (Art (2018))
Two worlds collide is a series of 'over under' images which have been created with my camera in an underwater water housing. An 'over under' is a style of underwater photography where you can see above and below the water, captured in a single exposure. You can see above the water in the top half of the photo and below the water in the bottom half of the photo. Below the water is illuminated using an underwater flash to balance the exposure with the sky. With this series I shot on sunrise and sunset to capture atmospheric skies contrasted with the calm that lies beneath the waters surface. With the use of an underwater flash and using rapid movement I created these dynamic contrasty scenes. Half of the series comprises of Common Stingarees which inhabit the shallow sand flats. The other half are of Greeen Sea Turtles which inhabit the coral reefs. The real beauty and art is that these images are completely captured in camera, without manipulation.
