Fernanda Pedroso, Unbecoming (PORTRAIT 2024)

Where do we draw the line between humans and technology. Is technology truly enhancing our lives? In the time of lots of technology, it's important to ask ourselves how much all the technology availble is changing who we really are. With the pieces I made for the series "(un)Becoming," I want to make people wonder about what's human and what's not. I want people to think about how technology is making us turn into something else, often moving us far from our essence. It is to encourage everyone to take a moment to think about how all these gadgets and gizmos might be changing us and maybe pulling us away from our real selves. In a rapidly evolving world driven by technological advancements, we find ourselves at the intersection of transformation and vulnerability, The relationship between technology and humanity is transforming the society not always in a good way. In the digital age, we are more connected than ever, yet there is a pervasive sense of disconnection. A paradox of constant connectivity leading to isolation and the quest for genuine human connection amidst a sea of screens. A world where self-presentation is curated and filtered through the lens of technology, questions of authenticity and identity emerge. How can we difference our digital personas and our true selves? The pressure to be constantly productive, as has given rise to a culture of exhaustion. The contemporary society is marked by relentless connectivity and the constant pursuit of self-improvement. In our pursuit of becoming, we often overlook the process of unbecoming.
