Francis Keogh, Undiscovered Gold – Adelong Gold Mill Ruins (ART 2024)
During its heyday, the prospect of instant wealth brought people from far and wide to the Adelong gold field. Yet, this most precious of metals is also emblematic of the Self. Which may have added a further elusive element to the gold fever that possessed many of the miners. Although the gold rush days are long past, the enduring presence of the Self is suggested in the images, by the addition of ‘previously undiscovered’ artifacts. All three are composites derived from a weekend shoot at Adelong in February 2024.
