Georgia Matthews, WALLS (Architecture (2019))
WALLS illustrates an interpretation of 'mental walls' via the use of Moghul symbolism. Indo-Islamic walls of structures and spaces are captured, focusing on complexity, decoration, transportation, and isolation in order to push the boundaries of form and colour. Vivid and natural colours are combined with geometric shapes, creating a series of abstract landscapes that fall somewhere between painting and photography. WALLS attempts to open doorways into the psyche and aims to evoke a personal response to our surroundings.
