Emy Dossett, Wave Dancers (Art (2018))
The rhythm of the sea fabricates a stage, where we move with grace and elegance. The light paints such a different story underwater. The spotlight falls on the subject as if she is being lit on a stage. Her movements are suspended in what seems like an elongated moment in time. But in reality, you're restricted by the amount of time you and the model can hold your breath and how long you stay down before the buoyant force of the ocean pulls you towards the surface. Much like a dance on a stage, where each pose and movement only lasts as long as each beat within the song. The intention behind each image is to capture the relationship and movement between the female body, the refraction of the light through the water whilst working within the parameters of the ocean. And when it all flows together, that's when you capture that moment when the audience gasps and applauds.
