Michelle Ferreira, Where the Green Seeps into the Concrete (BLACK & WHITE 2025)
“Where the Green Seeps into the Concrete'' is a photographic series that observes our urban experience with nature. It reflects on how human systems interact with nature in the cities and how valuable the sense of interconnectedness with nature in the city is for humans. This ongoing series documents how nature seeps into the urban environment through a documentary lens intersecting with the surreal through black and white double exposure techniques. I apply one rule — each double-exposure frame is within view — the overlaid images create an abstract environment where nature and urban spaces meet. The relevance of this photographic work speaks to the fundamental human rights and need for connection to nature and how vital it is for our mental and physical well-being.
