Christine Rocher, Wild Intimate (BLACK & WHITE 2022)

A wildflower is a flower that grows in the wild, meaning it was not intentionally seeded or planted. They burst into life after winter and fill the countryside with a wash of colour here in the western most part of Australia. The dry arid ground is suddenly filled with life and we know spring is afoot. Seeing the majestic landscape in colour takes your breath away as you stare in amazement at nature working its magic! Once I had feasted my eyes on this abundant saturation I started to look deeper at the details and how the light formed shadows and contrast on intimate scenes before me. And how this was brought to life in a black and white. Looking at wildflowers in black and white gave a whole new lease of life to these beautiful little flowers. They became whimsical little caricatures dancing in the tall grass as dawn broke and a light breeze swayed and teased them as they played.
