Simon Fazio, Year 1 (Wedding: Portfolio 2022)
People often ask whether weddings are the most difficult type of photography I do - but it's by far the easiest. A great wedding shoot is just flowing through an almost endless stream of possibilities, and it's enormously gratifying hunting for those moments throughout a day. These are some of my favourite moments from my first year of wedding photos. There's nothing set up in these ones, just people as they are - either a private moment just off camera between a bride and their new mother-in-law, a kiss in the back of a car in the first moments the newlyweds are alone, a curious child in the middle of a speech, sheltering from an unexpected downpour or the moment an engagement party turns into a wedding. I try to capture these moments in ways in where I'm not present in the frame. As I continue on working in this field my aim is to become completely invisible.
