Danielle Oxton, Your close up (PORTRAIT 2021)

When faced with a lens at close range it's interesting to see the reactions of the subject. I've found that children become still and almost at ease with the camera lens. Maybe the lens looks like an alien staring back at them. Sometimes they don't notice it at all and continue on their way. Sometimes they laugh and almost always older people (Adults) laugh and smile and are self conscious. I can take a few steps back and they can relax but I love that initial moment, when the lens is close. When you don't know how they will react or what you will get.
