Renee Coster's entry in Australasia’s Top Emerging Photographers 2021 (presented by Fujifilm), Beauty Myth, is a featured portfolio, and appears in the Art category.
Of the series, Coster says: "Beauty Myth is a social-commentary photographic series, exploring themes of female identity and self-image. Employing symbols, signs, and pop-cultural references to articulate expectations sold to women through advertising and media. Using an advertising approach, the images are intended to evoke a sense of unease, inviting the audience to question their role in enforcing these expectations from both societal and personal perspectives."
Australasia's Top Emerging Photographers is the region's main platform for discovering and showcasing photographers at the outset of their careers and aspiring photographers. The competition is open to emerging, student, and amateur photographers. The prize pool currently stands at over $30,000.
Entries are now open, with with special early-bird pricing until 6 December, 11:59pm (AEDT).
