Cicchini pursued formal studies in photography at the Canberra Institute of Technology, completing a Bachelor of Photography in 2013. Her interests lie in creating storytelling portraiture, infusing it with fashion. Her current projects have allowed her to explore the possibilities of creating scenarios inspired by film, and then interpreting them through her own eyes.
The style of Cicchini’s work ranges from dark and provocative to peaceful and beautiful. Whether it’s portraiture or fashion, she likes to hint at an underlying thread of something mysterious going on, inviting the viewer to look further into her images. She is also interested in fine-art nudes and the interaction of the human form in the landscape.
Her work has been seen at numerous group shows, as well as her first solo exhibition late last year. A selection of images shot recently in Tasmania was exhibited in the Huw Davies Gallery in Canberra before moving on to two art galleries in Italy. She has received numerous awards, including the AIPP ACT Emerging Photographer of the Year in 2014. In 2015, Cicchini was named ACT Portrait Photography of the Year, ACT Illustrative Photographer of the Year, and won the Fashion/Editorial category of Australia’s Top Emerging Photographers. “I will never stop being a student of photography,” she says. “I want to continue to absorb as much as my little brain can take. There is just so much to learn about the world.”
