American photojournalist John Moore is a senior staff photographer and special correspondent for Getty Images. He joined the Getty in 2005 and throughout his career has worked in some 70 countries on six continents. Moore was posted internationally for 17 years, first to Nicaragua, then India, South Africa, Mexico, Egypt, and Pakistan.

Since returning to live in the United States he continues to travel for international stories, including, previously, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the Ebola epidemic in West Africa and, most recently, the continued COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S. His most long-term effort has been to put a human face on the issue of immigration, both within the U.S. and throughout Latin America. In 2018 powerHouse Books published his book, Undocumented: Immigration and the Militarization of the United States-Mexico Border.

Moore has been honored in the profession throughout his career, including the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography for his AP Iraq War coverage as well as five World Press Photo honours, including the 2019 Photo of the Year for the iconic image, Crying Girl on the Border. He has also been awarded the Robert Capa Gold Medal from the Overseas Press Club as well as Photographer of the Year from POY, NPPA, and Sony. Moore is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied Radio-Television-Film. He lives with his family in Stamford, Connecticut.
