Our judges – Ricardo Da Cunha – Australasia's Top Emerging Photographers 2023
Ricardo Da Cunha's images aim to portray a world that he seeks; one that is simple, silent, and devoid of the noise that increasingly dominates our complicated and distracted lives. He likes to give his subjects space for them to breathe, just like he need to find space so that his soul can breathe. Photography gives Da Cunha the silence that he increasingly desires. His images are often not true interpretations of what his camera sees, but, more importantly to him, they are true interpretations of the feelings he strives to evoke, or the stories that he wishes to tell.
