Samantha Everton is a photo-artist based in Melbourne, Australia. Her photographs are endowed with curiosity, placing female subjects in theatrical scenes with carefully articulated backdrops full of colour with elements of whimsy.
Everton grew up in far north Queensland in a large multicultural family, very unusual in remote rural Australia. Reflecting her background rich in diversity, in her practice she demonstrates a penchant for the unusual and captures the imagination at play. Everton spent hours fossicking for gemstones under the wide blue skies of remote towns in Central Queensland. Hers was a colour-saturated world. Multicultural themes and notions of identity continue to influence much of her imagery.
