Our judges – Toby Meagher – Australasia's Top Emerging Photographers 2022

Toby Meagher is a Director and Partner at Michael Reid Galleries. He is a passionate supporter of contemporary photography, working with some of Australia's most important practicing artists through Michael Reid Galleries in Sydney and Berlin. Meagher trained his interest in photography at the National Gallery of Australia under Gael Newton, before embarking on a career in commercial galleries. He has curated and held major exhibitions over the past decade across Sydney, London, Paris, and Berlin. He is interested in the long-term development of both artists and art collectors.

Beyond his work in commercial galleries, Meagher has a broad interest in photography, post-colonial narratives, and Indigenous voices in contemporary Australian art – from urban practices to remote communities. He is the proud father of 18-month-old twins, runs a small wine label with friends out of Mudgee, NSW, and is a keen fly fisherman.
