Australasia’s Top Wedding Photographers 2021: Top 20 Portfolio category

The inaugural running of Australasia's Top Wedding Photographers was judged by a stellar line-up of some of the world's finest wedding photographers.

Category winners each receive $3,000 cash, a Sony Alpha 7 III camera valued at $2,899, and a BenQ monitor valued at $750. Runners-up take home $500 cash and an MSI Urban Outdoor Backpack valued at $380.

The world through my viewfinder has always been a maze of highlighting shape, tone, and form. This allows the eye to enjoy the starkness of these contours, while weddings convey the human element of surprise. When selecting the images for this portfolio, I didn’t know where to begin. However, as I was navigating through hundreds of weddings, it became crystal clear that the monochrome images tended to work better in harmony. As I analysed the images, I noticed that those with strong shapes started to jump out at me.

It has been thought out with close attention to detail using a classic and ageless lighting style while perfecting the poses.The images included are those usually taken on a wedding day prior to the ceremony, with a focus on group portraits rather than the obvious couple portraits most commonly seen. My favourite time of the day to capture images is in the getting ready stages as this is the time I can put more thought into creating something unique and not feel rushed due to time restraints.
