WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Thank you to everyone who took part in Australasia's Top Wedding Photographers this year. We hope you enjoyed the experience. Judging is now complete and Winners, Runners-Up and Top 40 Single Shot entries and Top 15 Portfolio entries were published in the February-April 2023 issue of Capture magazine. Winners and Runners-Up have also been announced at capturemag.com.au. You can also see the Top 20 entries here. Emails notifying award-winning photographers of their results were sent on Monday 20 February 2023.

ABOUT AUSTRALASIA'S TOP WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS

Australasia’s Top Wedding Photographers recognises talented and creative wedding photographers from Australia and New Zealand. Now in its second year, the competition offers a prize pool worth over $17,000, including two Sony Alpha A7IV cameras and $7,000 in cash.

Further, winners and runners-up, as well as a selection of the top entries in each of the categories will be published in a special Wedding edition of Capture magazine in the February–April 2023 issue. Last year, we published over 100 images from the competition over 30 pages. See an abridged version of the issue here.

WHO CAN ENTER?

Australasia's Top Wedding Photographers is open to citizens and residents of Australia and New Zealand. For the purposes of this competition, a resident is defined as a person who has lived in Australia or New Zealand for at least six months at the time of entering the competition.

You can enter any images created on or after 1 January 2017.

PORTFOLIO AND SINGLE-IMAGE CATEGORIES

Australasia’s Top Wedding Photographers has two categories: Single Shot and Portfolio

SINGLE SHOT CATEGORY
Enter one image. Judges are looking for striking images that boast strong technical and aesthetic qualities in a single frame. Your image must be from an actual wedding or civil ceremony.

PORTFOLIO CATEGORY
Enter five images. Judges are looking for images work together as a cohesive series. You should aim to submit images that relate to each other on some level, for example aesthetically or thematically. Your portfolio can include images from one or more weddings. Each image must be from an actual wedding or civil ceremony.

IMAGE PREPARATION

• Images must be in JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) format (High Quality or Maximum Quality). Do not submit TIFF, PSD, DNG, or other file formats.
• Images must be at least 2,700 pixels on the longest side.
• Individual images must be no larger than 5MB.
• Image file names should not include unusual characters such as !, @, ", ', #, $, %, ^, &, *, (, ), ©. These characters can result in images not uploading. Hyphens (-) and underscores (_) are fine. If you see that one or more of your images has not uploaded correctly, please e-mail us at: weddingphotographer@capturemag.com.au and we will fix it for you.
• Images must be free of text and logos. This includes watermarks and added text. Images with text or watermarks will not be shortlisted.
• You may enter both categories, and/or the same category multiple times.

IMAGE MANIPULATION

Please check out the Terms and Conditions for detailed information about what post production techniques may be applied.

JUDGING

Once entries close on 30 October 2022, images will be shortlisted by the staff of Capture magazine.

A panel of leading photographers and industry experts from Australia and around the world will judge the shortlisted entries. In the event of a tie for first or second place, the relevant images will be returned to the judges for an additional round of voting.

The results of Australasia’s Top Wedding Photographers, presented by Sony, will be revealed in the February-April 2023 edition of Capture. An announcement will also be made in February 2023 at www.capturemag.com.au.

PRIZES

The total prize pool for Australasia’s Top Wedding Photographers is valued at more than $17,000, with $10,000 in prizes from our sponsors and cash prizes of $7,000. Click here for more details.

RECOGNITION

Winners, runners-up, and top-ranked entries will be revealed in the February-April 2023 edition of Capture magazine. A simultaneous announcement will be made at www.capturemag.com.au. Also in February, Winners, Runners-up, Top 10, Top 20, Highly Commended, and Commended photographers will be notified via e-mail confirming their placing in the competition.
